Toc H Queensland Branches St Margaret's

St Margaret's Action Group

St Margaret's Anglican Girls School — established 1996

Other Branches

The St Margaret's Toc H Action Group was established in 1996 and since then its members have been involved in many very worthwhile projects, all designed to Care for People. The school is very supportive of Toc H.

In First Term, meetings are held to set in place plans for the year and there is an Induction Service for new members in the School Chapel.

New members are always welcome.

Projects & activities throughout the year

Australian Red Cross Blood Donation
The Australian Red Cross Blood Donor mobile comes to the school each year, giving girls the opportunity to donate blood. This very worthwhile project is organised by the girls in Toc H.
Easter Egg Collection — Royal Brisbane Children's Hospital
Each year the Toc H girls collect Easter Eggs. They put up notices around the school encouraging all students to support this great project. The eggs collected are taken by the girls in Toc H to all children in the Royal Brisbane Children's Hospital on Easter Day. An 'Easter Bunny', appropriately dressed for the occasion, helps to make the visit a great treat for the children in hospital.
ANZAC Eve Midnight Service
On ANZAC Eve, 24th April, there is a very special Service inside the Shrine of Remembrance at midnight: the first of the ANZAC Day Services. St Margaret's Toc H girls are official wreath layers and one girl plays The Last Post and Reveille during the Service. The seventy voice choir of the Queensland University Musical Society (QUMS) leads the singing of the hymns. This is a very moving Service and it is open to the public.
ANZAC Day Parade
On ANZAC Day, Toc H members, including a number of girls from St Margaret's, take part in the Main Parade in Brisbane.
EKKA Outing
Later in the year, on the last Saturday of the Exhibition, Toc H takes some one hundred and fifty children from the Children's Hospital and Homes to the EKKA for the day. This has been one of the great Toc H projects in Queensland since 1927 and it continues to grow year by year. St Margaret's girls help out on the day – distributing show bags, ice creams and soft drinks, and accompanying children on rides in Side Show Alley as well as helping with lunch.
Concerts at The Residence
Another very worthwhile project is visiting an Old People's Home, 'The Residence' and putting on concerts for those who live in the Home. This is always a very happy occasion and the setting is magnificent for music performed by String Quartets.
Two Cans — Food Relief
Members collect canned goods to support people experiencing food insecurity in our community — because no one should go hungry.
